On Wednesday April 29, 2015, the Los Angeles City Council voted to extend (for 22 months and 15 days) Interim Control Ordinances (ICOs) to protect select neighborhoods from mansionization.
With many thanks to (Field Deputy) Liz Carlin and Council President Wesson – who responded to community members’ requests, Faircrest Heights is one of the neighborhoods included in the ICO.
Our ICO permits new construction - and allows homeowners to remodel or reasonably expand their homes - but places limits on new or remodeled structures, relative to the lot size. We hope the ICO will prevent proliferation of the “out-to-the-lot-line” McMansions that tower over other homes, block neighbors’ air and sunlight, ruin their privacy, and destroy the scale and character of existing neighborhoods.
The ICO can be found at:

Faircrest Heights’ ICO is modeled after the Beverly Grove RFA, which can be found at:

We have included in the newsletter a flyer that may help you better understand the ICO.
